Hi everyone- happy Friday to you! I am so excited about the weekend. First of all, I will be here in DC, and not hosting a party. Second I have some seriously fun stuff planned- Christmas shopping, making Christmas treats for family and co-workers, Christmas card writing, going to my first BRIDAL TRUNK SHOW, and attending Mike’s company’s Christmas party. I’m also looking forward to not having any epic events- I need at least one weekend where I’m not eating lavish meals or having rich desserts!
Sorry I didn’t post yesterday- things were so busy! Yesterday morning, I woke up and had my standard pumpkin oatmeal with sliced banana (dollup pumpkin, 1/2c. oats, 1.5c. water, cinn, equal) to warm me up and energize me for my uphill walk to work.

Here’s my morning apple- sorry to be so boring, but it really does hit the spot!

I had a working lunch at Cactus Cantina. I normally get a big ole’ salad, but remembered my commitment to eating comforting food, so I had a small side salad that had a few slices of avocado on it and used just a bit (2 tsp.?) of their delicious spicy and creamy house dressing, and then ordered a plate of rice and beans. I would say I had a cup or a cup and a half of rice and 1/2c. black beans. I also had about 5 fresh tortilla chips- yum! This was the perfect meal to fill me up but not make me lethargic the way a cheesy, refried bean type dish might.
I started getting tiny hunger cues right at my normal snacktime, so I know I made the right lunch choices! My afternoon snack was 1/2c. cottage cheese and 1/2c. Kashi Go Lean.

For some reason, I was feeling particularly snacky while making dinner, and had a whole bunch of peanuts. Multiply this appetizer plate times 2 (maybe 1/2c? Possibly more?!!!!). I don’t eat pure nuts that often (I’d rather eat a ton of veggies or a bunch of pretzels than just a few nuts, caloriewise), but did enjoy these. I also snacked on some raw carrots and celery while chopping up the salad.

Because I had such a serious snack, I didn’t want a huge dinner, so I had salad with this delicious creamy peppercorn dressing and 2 slices of light whole wheat bread with peanut butter (1.5 T maybe?) and a few chocolate chips. I went back for seconds on the salad!

And for dessert, a yummy Pink Lady.

This morning’s breakfast was pumpkin oats again which were fantastic, as always. I deleted the pic by accident so please accept a repeat of yesterday’s.

Back to the grind- hope you Fridays go fast!
