The Girl in the LBD Gets Yet Another LBD

Heya!  So glad tomorrow is Thursday- the weekend is approaching!  Today went by pretty quickly and I had some delicious and healthy meals to keep me going.

For lunch, I had a whole wheat with flax Flat Out wrap that I stuffed with 3 slices of Tofurky, a slice of pepperjack cheese, lettuce, hot sauce, honey mustard, and black pepper.  Remembering my goal to eat comforting food in the winter, I heated this baby up in the micro at work for a minute and it took this sandwich from pretty good to fantastic!  I am def. heating up my sandwiches more often.

Oh yes, for those of you that live in DC:  Flat Out wraps are literally NOWHERE except this one place I have discovered:  the Safeway on the corner of Cocoran and 17th St, where they are sold by the deli counter.  I haven’t found them in any other Safeway, Giant, or Whole Foods in DC but this one place!

I also included the standard add-ons: carrots, an apple, and a granola bar.

I was still pretty hung after this meal, so I dug into my afternoon snack- 1/2c. cottage cheese with a cup of Fiber One.

All that fiber definitely did the trick!  I didn’t need anything else until dinner (save three Tootsie Rolls :) ).  Dinner was simple, but healthy:  a big green salad with honey mustard, a sweet potato with a little margarine (that’s all we had in the house!) and s and p, and grilled tofu.

I marinated the tofu slices in a mix of mustard, hot sauce, worchestershire, honey, and soy sauce, then grilled them on the Foreman.  This is 1/3 of a block, and absolutely fabulous.

For dessert, I munched on a juicy pink lady apple.

And the best news of the day was that I scored this gooooooooowgeous LBD from Ann Taylor today using a gift certificate I got from my girlfriends (thanks so much, ladies!).

It fits like a glove (better actually than on the model, in my not-so-humble opinion) and will be the perfect frock to wear to my engagement party at the end of the month.  Granted, I do own numerous LBDs, but this one is especially perfect for the occasion, and nothing motivates me to maintain a healthy lifestyle better than fantastic clothes!  I won’t sugarcoat anything- I’m into health for the clothes!

  • I really like your response to my last comment! I, too, decided to completely STOP counting calories, and still eat my “normal” foods, but if I was hungrier, I would eat MORE and if I wasn’t terribly hungry, then I wouldn’t force myself to keep eating! At first, I gained about 8 pounds…bummer, but then I just decided to deal with it and kept up with my intuitive eating and eventually lost 10 pounds! I think counting calories is so unnatural and you never REALLY know how many you ACTUALLY need.

Your blog is inspiring because sometimes you see bloggers who have a certain number of “set” calories for each meal, and they’re super active and they seam to be eating enough because they eat a bunch of smaller low calorie meals a day, but they seem to NEVER just eat an extra helping or dig into an extra snack…which is completely unnatural and unintuitive. You have regular meal and snack times, but it’s also not uncommon for you to eat a little extra one day and eat a little less a few days down the road. That’s GREAT.

  • your marinated tofu looks fabulous!!!! and that LBD is soooo elegant and classy. you will look so chic in it with your pretty blonde hair :)

  • They sell Flat out wraps at Harris Teeter, also by the deli section and not with the bread. (Kalorama Rd. in Adams Morgan).

  • I love your new LBD! I have never seen a Flat Out Wrap in Rhode Island.

    Meghan,
THank you so much for your wonderful and sweet words! You make me feel great about my choices and I keep hoping that as long as I stick with being intuitive, my body will find its happy place- whether it gains or loses. Thank you thank you thank you- you are so inspiring!
