Hi all! Hope your weekends are going well- I am having a fantastic weekend. This is the first weekend in months when Mike and I haven’t been travelling or hosting an epic party, and it has been a lot of fun just to do normal, relaxing stuff and hang out with friends.
Back to Friday afternoon- I chose to have these Tootsie Rolls for a snack, which was an excellent decision. They are so sweet and delish!
I also had a bowl of puffed kamut to hold me over until dinner when I was getting ready to go out.
Dinner was absolutely fabulous. My girlfriends took me out for a belated birthday dinner (thanks again, ladies!) at my very favorite restaurant of all time, Billy Martin’s. It is an historic tavern that was the hot seat in Georgetown back in the Kennedy days- JFK even proposed to Jackie O there! I love the warm ambience, the friendly waiters, and the just plain good food.
I started out with a few yummy pieces of bread
And I got the Martin’s salad, which had lettuce, tomatoes, carrots, raisins, mandarin oranges, chickpeas, with blue cheese on the side.
I also had a plain baked potato that I sprinkled with a little salt.
This was the perfect meal for me considering my week of constant take out- I indulged a biti by having a little blue cheese dressing, but otherwise, kept it light and refreshing!
We enjoyed lots of wine and conversation, and had a fantastic time!
This morning, Mike made me our favorite brunch- here’s my omelette made with one egg and one egg white, sauteed veggies, a bagel with veggie cream cheese, and coffee. Purrrrfffeeecccct.
I can definitely blame my hormones, but my appetite is raging this weekend and I basically just want to eat junk! I satisfied that craving this afternoon, at McFadden’s, a bar in Foggy Bottom that holds the Notre Dame game watches. We met up with our friends and everyone enjoyed beer and wings, and I got to enjoy Diet Coke and a chicken Caesar salad wrap with French fries. It was exactly what I was craving and I relished in every bite! No picture because that just would have been awkward.
Mike and I are being lazy lazy lazy bones tonight and lying around not doing anything, even though I have dishes, laundry, and cleaning to do considering we are having friends over for brunch tomorrow! I was so lazy I didn’t even cook dinner- here’s my gourmet meal.
Salad and a bowl of Fiber One, puffed kamut, and Kashi GoLean mixed with a tbsp peanut butter and 1/3c. full fat yogurt. Not particularly classy, but it did satisfy my need for some serious fiber and nutrients and crunch!
Now to try to stay awake long enough to at least do the dishes, but Mike has already fallen asleep on the couch once- I have a feeling it’s going to be an early night!

I love how you managed to find something yummy and delicious for last night’s dinner! I love eating out but find it so frustrating when I feel like there’s nothing good on the menu.
Have a great night and enjoy tomorrow!

Hey. So with the other food bloggers encouraging people to delurk I am going to here. So I dont want to sound like a BIG creeper but..here it is. I have been reading your blog for awhile and I actually live in D.C. too I got to AU. But I am pretty sure I saw you on the metro one day (small world) but I was a little shy to call you out. Haha funny story. But I hope this doesnt creep you out. Haha. I am in the process of trying to delurk to people but its kind of difficult. I really enjoy your blog though!

Linds and Hangry- McFadden’s is definitely the best chain bar ever. That is actually where we went a couple of weeks ago to watch the Notre Dame/BC game immediately after Mike proposed!
Jamie- I used to follow a DC fashion blogger (A Serious Job is No Excuse, she is now Johanna on that show “Stylista”) and ran into her on Connecticut Avenue and totally introduced myself. You don’t sound like a creeper at all! Next time, please do say hi! I work at the National Cathedral, so I am pretty close to your neighborhood!
