So you guys know that I’m not a big “trendy restaurant” regular, so you can imagine how excited I was to go to Central Michel Richard with 8 other Foodbuzz publishers last night! Thank you, Foodbuzz!
Here we all are! Left to right, Lauren from Capitol Cooking Show, Quinn from Daily Moderation, Maddy from Cook Like Mad, Olga from Mango and Tomato, Matt from Foodphoria, your truly with some ridiculous looking devil eyes (damn my baby blues!), Taresa from Cook and Book, Colleen from Foodie Tots, and Rivka from Not Derby Pie.
It was such a fun evening! First of all, it was awesome to dine with people that have so much in common! We talked restaurants, living in DC, travelling, and balancing work/blogging. I particularly enjoyed spending a few hours with a group of people who are more concerned about food itself than its calories or weight implications. It was refreshing and fabulous!
I especially enjoyed meeting Quinn, who lives in my neighborhood, and whose blog I read daily!
Onto the FOOD! I just came off of a super-indulgent weekend and have many treats ahead of me this weekend, so I wanted to keep it relatively light. I did ok.
We started by getting gougeres, of which I had one. They were puffy and delightful. Personally, I could have used a little more salt/cheese, but that’s just my cheese-aholic tendencies coming to play.
Even though I am such a carb fiend, I am often disappointed by the bread I have in restaurants. I had a slice of the table bread and it was perfect- like, Paris good. Such a rarity in DC!
For dinner, I got the chopped salad and the Brussels sprouts with bacon, together with a glass of Twenty Bench Cab, which was perfect- still a Cab, but a little fruitier and less than others, which was good for everyone’s meal..
The sprouts were to die for- they definitely had some serious butter, and the bacon mixed perfectly with some maple syrup I could taste in the mix. Such comfort food!
The salad makes me sad even this morning. I should have known better, getting a salad at a Southern-French fusion restaurant, but I was- of course- trying to keep it light! There was cheese and salami mixed in, and since everything was cut so small, there was no way to get it out. I ate it anyway- I was hungry!
I had a bite of my neighbor’s dessert, which was Michel’s chocolate bar- it had a rich homemade ice cream, a lovely caramel sauce, and some delicious crispies at the bottom. Choco heaven.

It was a truly wonderful evening, and even though my fare didn’t end up as healthy as I would have liked, I had a light day beforehand so felt fine waking up this morning and having a normal breakfast. I had 6 oz. plain yogurt, 1/2c. Good Friends Cereal, and a banana.
I was hungry hungry hippo today (well, not a hippo, but hungry)! Mid-morning, I had 2 snacks- an apple and some carrots.
For lunch, I brought a salad and a peanut butter sandwich on light bread, but for some reason, I really wasn’t feeling the PB&J. So I bought a roasted veggie sandwich at the store at work. Here are the ingredients: marinated and grilled peppers, eggplant, zucchini, onion, lettuce, sun-dried tomato, hummus and pesto on foccacia bread. Honestly, I didn’t taste the hummus, but it really hit the spot!
Here’s my lunch altogether- veggierific.
I am so happy it is Thursday! After work, I plan on packing for a weekend home with Mike (we have a wedding to go to), eating a light dinner, and hitting the hay at a reasonable hour. Hope you guys have a loooooovely afternoon!

I am so sad I missed this. I got an email from foodbuzz… then I got another one that said something about it being full already, so I never RSVPed… how lame am I?
Looks like fun though!
