Hi friends! Hope your weeks are beginning well. My week is a little sadder than last because Mike is travelling agian
but I can’t wait to see him this weekend in NJ (we have a wedding to go to).
I indulged BIG time this weekend at Homecoming, and I have numerous food-related events coming up in the next week or so, and I want to be able to enjoy all of them. So therefore for all of my meals that aren’t “events,” I really need to be focused on eating as whole as possible, focusing on produce, so that I can enjoy each outing with a clear head.
First, some of the ridiculous things I ate at Homecoming:
Veggie burger on a HUGE white bun with a big ol’ serving of seasoned fries at the Gingerbread Man (Gman) in Carlisle. I’d include a link, but it’s Carlisle, and they haven’t discovered the internet yet.
Many, many of these prepackaged, gooey, transfatty cinnamon buns. I danced around the sorority house common room at one point offering people “bites of trans fat” and wondered why people didn’t mirror my enthusiasm.
Brunch in the caf: huge plate of the greasiest home fries of all time, pasta salad (times two), salad bar with creamy saturated fat dressing…mmmm.
There were other treats but I will choose to plead the 5th at the risk of losing readers/my dignity.
Ok, now I hope to vindicate myself ny showing you my lovely, healthy breakfast of pumpkin oats with 1/2 a banana.
My mid-morning snack of a McIntosh apple:
And my non-transfatty lunch of a big salad with spray dressing, 1/4c. Marcona almonds, and an apple…
With 1/2c. no salt added cottage cheese and 1/2c. Fiber One for dessert.
As long as I keep these healthy habits up, I know I will get through the next week feeling great!
Happy election day, friends!

Ohhh, this cracks me up. I’m from Carlisle – I’m assuming you’re a Dickinsonian? You’re right – they are far behind on tech, which is why I LEFT for college. Gotta love the G-man, though.

haha, my Gramma LOVES those cinnamon rolls! The funny thing is, she hated all the sugar on them that she owuld actually RINSE them off then DRY them! Kind of super gross, but I guess she saved calories? * shrugs* I’d rather eat all that trans fat;)

In food, and in life, follow your own bliss, even if it means trans-fatty cinnamon rolls. Enjoy!

You seem to be doing a darn swell job of healthifying after the indulgences. They seem like they were totally worth it though. Especially cinnamon buns, mmmm.
